75577 LEGO Avatar Mako Submarine. First released in 2009, the blockbuster sci-fi film, Avatar, broke box office records with its special effects as it took cinema fans on a captivating journey to a distant planet. The James Cameron masterpiece saw a paraplegic Marine dispatched to the moon Pandora on a unique mission. He embarked on a great adventure; torn between following his orders and protecting the world he feels is his home. Fast forward to 2022 and the next Avatar epic: The Way of Water, is released and again wows fans. Main characters Jake and Neytiri, along with the army of the Na'vi, race to protect their home again, although this time the fight is taken to the seas, both above and below.

LEGO® Avatar sets feature a whole range of vehicles, creatures and characters in exciting alien nature-themed settings.
Released on the 1st of January 2023, the LEGO Avatar Mako Submarine (set 75577) is probably one of the only sets in this current run that features both the heroes and villains of The Way of Water. This set is packed full of features and can easily be combined with others in the series to create a Pandoran universe. The set is aimed at age 9+, with 553 pieces. The model builds into the Avatar Mako submarine with 2 opening cockpits and 3 movable propellers, although not all of the submarine elements from the film have been faithfully recreated, 3 Pandoran ocean coral settings including a cave are also included. Four great minifigures can also be found; Neteyam, Ao’nung, Spider and RDA Quaritch, it is good to see that they come complete with accessories including a bow with launchable arrows, a Na’vi knife, alien fish and an alien stingray figure.
Investment Potential
A very hard set to assess, as this is a completely new theme and sub theme for LEGO, so we have no comparable retired sets to look at.
The value is nicely underpinned by the value of the 4 minifigures, all of which are unique and have an accumulated value between them of £40, 80% of the value of the set!
This theme was only launched in the last year and currently contains 9 sets available at retail sale ranging from £20 to £130. This set sits very much in the middle of the pricing range.

Conclusion
A new set from a new theme from the new Avatar movie “The Way of the Water”. Recently launched and likely to be on retail sale for a number of years yet, this is not one for investors.
