Introduction
76180 LEGO Batman vs. The Joker Batmobile Chase. Avoid this LEGO DC set as an investment. Investment Potential
A small set, within the popular Batman sub-theme, a large portion of the value comes from the included 3 minifigures (none however are unique to this set). Disappointing historic growth in the sub-theme leave us to project future growth at only 4% a year. Currently out of stock at the LEGO site ahead of retirement at the end of the year, it can still be purchased at Argos for £20.

Theme Analysis
The LEGO DC Superheroes theme has produced nearly 150 sets across 13 different sub-themes, with Batman featuring within almost half of those sub-themes and the 5 most owned sets within the theme all come from Batman, showing its immense popularity.
The Batman sub-theme has been going for nearly 20 years now, seeing over 40 sets, the majority of which are now retired. The theme has had somewhat mixed performance providing annualised average growth of 6%.

Comparable Set Analysis
Looking at some of the more similar retired Batman sets gives us the same outcome. Limited annualised growth (5% max) on all but one recent retired set makes it very hard to see high growth for this set upon retirement.

Conclusion
Definitely a set to avoid from an investment perspective. Whilst a popular theme, Batman retired models don’t seem to generate high enough returns from an investment perspective.
